The Gothic Clothes and Appearance
Gothic fashion is one of the more distinguishable characteristics of teens who are living this lifestyle. Black is one of the more common choices among many gothic teens. Outfits are often made up of layers of black. Black pants with a black shirt and a black jacket is a common outfit for a gothic teen. The black clothes tend to convey a mood of depression and, in many instances, a fascination with death.

They are reminiscent of vampires and other entities that are not typically accepted by mainstream society.In contrast to the black gothic clothes, looking gothic also consists of makeup that makes the skin appear pale. Both males and females will apply makeup to their face in order to convey the gothic attitude. White or light makeup on the face provides a stark contrast to the dark clothing, but many gothic teens also use black mascara to add to their macabre look. Black or dark lipstick is also a common addition to the face in the gothic style. Even further, black or dark purple fingernail polish is applied to add to the look.

Gothic Accessories
Because of the popularity of gothic styles and fashions, you can find gothic accessories almost anywhere. Several websites are dedicated to offering a full-line of accessories and you can even find this type of clothing at several department stores. Many gothic teens, though, choose to shop at local secondhand stores because of the worn appearance and vintage appeal of the dark clothes that they can find there. Either way, gothic accessories and outfits are generally inexpensive.In addition to the black wardrobes and the makeup that gothic girls and boys wear, there are some other things that they often use to add to their macabre appearance. Skulls are one of the most common motifs that you’ll find in gothic accessories. The skulls can come in a variety of styles, whether they are engraved on a bracelet or on the front of a shirt. Many times, you will also find skull rings or necklaces as an accessory to a gothic outfit.

Crosses are almost as common to gothic accessories as skulls. The only difference is that gothic-style crosses generally include Celtic versions or other types of crosses other than the common Protestant cross that most people think of. In some cases, gothic girls and boys will wear several cross necklaces at different lengths to give a layered look.Another popular accessory, especially among gothic girls, is fishnet. Fishnet doesn’t only apply to stockings anymore, either. Gothic girls often wear many things made of black fishnet – stockings, gloves and even tops. You can find these types of clothes in a variety of gothic-friendly colors. While black is the most common, dark purple and blood red are also common colors for gothic fashion outfits and accessories.Shoes are also an important accessory to match the gothic wardrobe. Shoes are black and they often involve both.

Gothic Hairstyles
While the clothes, makeup and accessories generally convey the gothic attitude and ideal, there are also some hairstyles that are commonly found among gothic teens. There are generally two basic categories that gothic hairstyles will fall into – long and short. Many times, the hairstyles are gender-reversed, too, meaning that gothic girls generally wear shorter hair why gothic boys tend to wear longer hair. Shorter gothic hairstyles are generally flat, but some use spikes to show some creativity. Others might create some outrageous hairstyles in order to stand out from those around them. Some gothic teens will even shave their heads or cut their hair extremely short to fit in with the gothic look that they are trying to portray.
